DONATIONS NEEDED!
The Lane County Heart Gallery is in need of flip video cameras. These are important tools in the recruitment for kids in foster care. They are small, portable cameras that we send to case workers all around Oregon for their use in getting video of kids for use on the web. Caseworkers then send them back to us and we edit and use the video footage with the child’s bio and pictures.
Having video of the children on the web increases their chances of catching the attention of potential families.

A Clothes Closet for teens has been started to off set the cost to foster parents by providing a mix of new and used clothing.
Having nice, attractive, stylish clothing is important for teens in foster care and overwhelming for foster parents taking in children at a moments notice. Many children are removed from their homes without being able to take many belongings. With the trauma associated with removal, children should not have to worry about what they will be wearing or whether they will have anything to wear.
We would like to hear from teens and or youth groups that would like to get involved.

Lane County Foster Homes Needed!
Heart Gallery and A Family for Every Child have partnered with DHS to help recruit long term committed Foster families for specific children. We are doing this by featuring them on our web site with, pictures that represent them and their stories. www.afamilyforeverychild.org on the kid’s page.
We are in need of homes in the Bethel and Springfield school district. Homes for sibling groups and homes for teens.
WE are a permanency focused organization and realize that many children need a long term committed foster home before they can or will be adopted. We have developed a relationship with DHS that allows our families to be given priority and helped through the process, depending on the urgency of the child’s need for a new home. Our organization is also offering our families additional support through the process and after.
If you are interested in parenting one more child or sibling group, interested in getting extra help through the process and additional support, please call
Christy at 1-541-343-2856 OR 1-877-343-2856 or email at cbobie@aol.com.
We are also looking for experienced families to support these new families. |

How can I help?
There are three different volunteer positions available:
File Mining: Research the files for information. Spend 1-3 hours a week at a DHS office.
Internet Research: Be a detective! Search for lost connections for foster children. Spend 1-6 hours a week or per case at your own home on your own computer.
Contact Volunteer: Call identified potential family or other individuals associated with the foster child. Spend 3-10
hours a week or per case at your home at your convenience.
Everyone who volunteers in the Family Finding program must complete the AFFEC/DHS
application process, including a background check and orientation process.
(Once this process is completed, you are considered to be ‘cleared’ and able to work as a Family Finding volunteer.)
The remaining trainings are about the process for each step and are required. Most trainings are held
at the Family for Every Child offices on at 4211 West 11th, Eugene, OR.

HEART GALLERY 2008 PHOTO FRAME DRIVE
The Heart Gallery of Lane County would like to be able to display our beautiful photographs in as many venues as possible. To that end, we are launching our Heart Gallery Photo Frame Display option. By using digital photo frames we will be able to have mini Heart Gallery displays in any small space – doctor/dentist offices, small businesses, workplaces, etc. The added advantage is that we can easily update the photos with no hassle for the venue provider.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
Please let us know if you are interested in helping out by:
*Sponsoring a frame(s) (anticipated wholesale cost $75/frame and media card) either for your own venue or to provide a digital frame to another location. If desired, your name/business name will be listed on the frame as providing sponsorship for that frame.
*Providing a space for a Heart Gallery Photo Frame Display in your workplace or business (requirements: 12”X12” of space and an electrical outlet).
*Giving of your time or technological expertise in securing venues and updating digital information.
*Underwrite this effort. Our goal is to place 100 frames around Lane County during 2008. You could make this dream a reality by underwriting all or part of this effort!!
If you are interested in helping in any of these ways or want more information, please call Julie or Eric at Friendly Street Market, 683-2079, or at home, 942-9651.
